Weekend in the mountains!

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to go to the mountains for the weekend and stay in a cabin...for FREE! We were so blessed by a couple in our church who let us use their cabin for our first "mini vacation" as a family of four. We were up near Grand Lake so it was only about a 2.5 hour drive, which was perfect since we had both kids! Jersey was an angel the entire car ride there and back (like she usually is!) and Tyson did pretty well as long as we rotated his toys and fed him snacks, lol. We had SUCH a wonderful time getting away without the stress of financing a weekend retreat. Here are some of the highlights!

***********************

The main living room of the cabin. The laundry room and master bedroom and kitchen are also on the main floor. Upstairs is a loft with two twin beds, plus a bedroom with another full size bed. There is also a walkway that they added on which attaches the main house to the apartment they built above the garage. It has a whole separate kitchen, and 8 more beds and some couches!

Main house on the left, walk way on the right which leads to the other half of the house.

Finally got there and settled, and put the kids to bed, and then game night for us! We had so much fun just hanging out together, no computers, no TV, and lots of popcorn.

First morning, Jersey joined daddy for some cuddle time in bed.

First morning breakfast.

Jersey just getting some vitamin D by the window ;-)

Playing outside! Lots of rocks and sticks and bugs and all kind of heavenly boy things to discover. And of course, my looking incredibly "yuppie" holding my latte which Robin delivered from "town" (5 minutes away). I'm such a Seattle girl...sad.

We even found a random swing in a tree next to the house! So very cool...

Tyson thought that the little tiny trees growing everywhere were just his size.

Loaded up the kids in our awesome new stroller and headed into "town" to explore. The lake was BEAUTIFUL and the biggest body of water I've seen since leaving Washington. It was nice to get my "water fix" and enjoy the views!

The fab four :)

Of course we found a park in town and Tyson beelined for the swings. He things Robin is completely HILARIOUS when he ducks down under the swing.

Reading before bed. They are quite the cuddlers, I tell ya. Tyson never sits for very long with me, but he could sit with Robin all day!

Like I said, they could cuddle all day...

Dinner on our last night! Jersey in her infant seat during "unhappy hour" so Robin is feeding himself, helping Tyson eat, and keeping Jersey entertained all at the same time. He's become quite the multi-tasking dad :)

A great time was had by all, and we are very much looking forward to another trip to the mountains this summer! I am continually amazed at all of the little blessings that the Lord brings into our lives. Moving here was such a huge leap of faith (a leap which I made while also dragging my feet!) and a risk to take for a new job, but God has been so faithful to provide us with an incredibly community and church home where we feel so loved and blessed - especially when we have the opportunity to use someones cabin when they barely know us! God is good, and it was a great little weekend away for our family.
